The Maldives has long been synonymous with private islands, turquoise waters and barefoot luxury. Now, one of the world’s most discreet luxury hospitality brands is preparing to enter the archipelago.
Amanolu, Aman’s first destination in the Maldives, is scheduled to open in 2028, set within the pristine islands of Vaavu Atoll. The project will combine an intimate resort with a limited collection of fully serviced Aman branded residences, creating a destination centred on privacy, space and a deep connection with nature.

The name Amanolu brings together Aman, the Sanskrit word for “peace”, and Olu, inspired by the water lily — a symbol associated with serenity, renewal and nature.
A New Private-Islands Concept
Thoughtfully designed by longtime Aman collaborator KHA, Amanolu will comprise an intimate 52-key resort. Its architecture will respond to the distinctive geography of the Maldives through restraint and elegant simplicity, with buildings and landscape designed to blend seamlessly with the surrounding seascape.
The destination will feature dedicated islands for wellness and recreation.
A dedicated island will be devoted to wellness and spa experiences, while other spaces and islands will support recreational and activity experiences across the destination.
Across the surrounding waters, Aman Residences, Amanolu will introduce an even more private interpretation of Maldivian island living. The collection will consist of five-bedroom homes, with each residence occupying its own private island.
Each residence island will feature expansive indoor and outdoor living spaces, a 25-metre swimming pool, dedicated staff accommodation and personal berths. The residences are oriented to embrace the changing light of the day, offering sunrise or sunset views, while select islands will have uninterrupted outlooks from dawn through dusk.
Designed Around Privacy and Nature
The concept goes beyond traditional resort accommodation. Each residence is envisioned as a personal retreat where indoor and outdoor spaces flow together, creating an intimate relationship with the ocean and surrounding landscape.

Yet privacy will not mean separation from the wider Amanolu experience. Residence owners will have access to Amanolu’s dining, wellness and recreational experiences and amenities, supported by Aman’s personalised service.
For Aman, the project represents a significant new chapter in its global portfolio. For the Maldives, it adds another distinctive luxury concept to an already celebrated island tourism landscape.
What We Know So Far
Amanolu is scheduled to open in 2028, but several important details have not yet been announced. Aman has not released room rates, and residence prices.
Residence enquiries can be made through [email protected], with an enquiry form also available through https://www.aman.com/amanolu at Aman’s official website.
For now, Amanolu remains a vision taking shape across Vaavu Atoll — one built around private islands, open horizons, understated architecture and the enduring Maldivian luxury of having space, sea and solitude all to yourself.
